Project Goal: To establish a private, backyard retreat in a city environment.

Project Description: This client wanted to update their backyard by removing an existing paving system on their terrace and transforming their backyard into a quiet retreat that includes an area for seating, an antique water feature, and a bocce court. With little space to work with, Magma was able to incorporate all these elements by taking advantage of every available inch of space. Permanently incorporating two retractable umbrellas that swing left and right was a cost and space efficient way to provide shade. A border planting of Japanese holly provides a formal feel to the space while the naturalized plantings around the water feature soften the rest of the landscape.
