The Break Hotel

« Back to Project List

Project Goal: To create a landscape that blends into the surrounding residential neighborhood while also complimenting the retro-surf design of the interior of the hotel.

Project Description: Magma was hired to bring some excitement to the exterior of the hotel. Our most challenging task was to take a limited space surrounded by a concrete wall and create an exciting pool, lounging, and dining area. By using a range of materials, from stainless steel, to mosaic tile, to a California produced paver, we were able to create a contemporary and inviting space. Our design inspirations came from the interior designer's selection of fabrics, flooring, and wall treatments. This allowed us to create a truly unique user experience, from the inside to the outside. We also wanted to make sure that the landscape connected to the residential landscape that surrounds the hotel.  We designed "residential" style gardens that incorporate bold color and seasonal interest and used other materials like New England fieldstone and granite to capture the spirit of this seaside community.
